Yannis Mallat 
CEO, Ubisoft Montreal & Ubisoft Toronto
Following his studies in Abidjan on the Ivory Coast, Mr. Mallat spent three years providing humanitarian aid in West Africa prior to obtaining his Master’s Degree in International Agronomy and Economic Development in Paris. He then returned to Africa where he worked for a non-governmental organisation (NGO) on a variety of rural development projects.
Mr. Mallat joined Ubisoft Montreal in 2000 as Third Party Producer. He successively held the positions of Producer, and Executive Producer for new intellectual properties where he worked on an extensive list of titles, including Assassins’ Creed, Rayman Advance and the multi-million selling trilogy of the Sands of Time (Prince of Persia The Two Thrones, Prince of Persia Warrior Within, Prince of Persia The Sands of Time).
In March 2006, Mr. Mallat was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ubisoft Montreal and remains very involved in the game production of titles developed at the studio. On July 6, 2009, in addition to his duties as CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, Mr. Mallat was appointed CEO of the newly formed Ubisoft Toronto, expected to create 800 new jobs over the next decade.
Mr. Mallat believes the key to success stems from the creation of passionate teams and in the ability to capture the energy and magic surrounding game development. He strives for his teams to deliver emotionally engaging gaming experiences and exploit the interactive nature of the medium to its fullest.
Mr. Mallat holds an MBA from the HEC Montreal.
