Donald Henderson

Studio General Manager & COO, Bedlam Games Inc.

Don is the Studio General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Bedlam Games Inc., developers of frontline console titles for the PlayStation3 and Xbox360.  Don brings more than ten years of legal and business administration experience to the Bedlam team and has been credited on six console and PC titles.

Prior to joining Bedlam, Don served as the Chief Operating Officer (and previously General Counsel) of Groove Games, a boutique video game publisher.  As Groove’s General Counsel, he was responsible for Groove’s legal matters including drafting and negotiating publishing and distribution agreements; as Groove’s COO, he was responsible for all of Groove’s operations and he helped grow the business from approximately one dozen employees to over one hundred.

Don also spent six years in private practice in the Toronto office of law firm Goodmans LLP.  At Goodmans, his clients included those in technology industries such as software and interactive media.  Amongst his clients were several Ontario-based video game developers seeking advice on issues such as game development and publishing agreements, financings, licensing and intellectual property matters.  At Goodmans, Don gained significant experience in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property (IP), information technology (IT), corporate and commercial law, licensing, privacy and securities law.

Don holds both an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Toronto (Trinity College) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia.  He is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and has previously been a member of the executive of each of the Privacy Section and the Information Technology Section.  He is also a member of the International Game Developers Association.
